The data related to satisfaction and dissatisfaction concepts were analyzed separately, and the elements of this phenomenon were grouped by analogy. Results: A total of 26 articles were retrieved, which adopted different methods to measure satisfaction and dissatisfaction at work, with some different technics to collection information, including interviews and their own or elsewhere validated questionnaires. The selected articles show that satisfaction is related to feelings; it is emotional, subjective, dynamic, active and complex. Therefore, it is determined by the components 'perception' and 'personal needs' with variable importance given by each individual. Conclusion: Satisfaction and dissatisfaction could be considered as two extreme points of the same line, thereby influencing professional performance, health and quality of life. Dissatisfaction is frequency related to the elements the institution offer to the employee considering their expectations. This phenomenon integrates the process of management of human resources in health. DESCRIPTORSNursing. Job Satisfaction. Nursing Team.http://periodicos.ufpb.br/ojs2/index.php/rbcs
