This research aims to reveal the differences between the performance of bachelor degree holder teachers and that of non-degree holder teachers of elementary schools in Kupang. It applies the survey method. The data were collected using a questionnaire. The validity of the questionnaire was measured using the Product Moment Correlation formula, and its reliability was measured using Alfa Cronbach formula. The data analysis used the non-parametric Mann-Whitney test with the help of the SPSS Program. The result of the study shows that there is a significant average difference between the teaching performance of bachelor degree holder teachers and that of non-degree holder teachers of elementary schools in Kupang. There is a significant average difference between the personality competence of bachelor degree holder teachers and that of non-degree holder teachers. There is a significant average difference between the paedagogic competence of bachelor degree holder teachers and that of non-degree holder teachers. There is a significant average difference between the social competence of bachelor degree holder teachers and that of non-degree holder teachers. Therefore, it is suggested that non-degree holder teachers keep improving their academic qualification and work performance through varieties of self-development efforts.
Kualitas guru menjadi suatu masalah yang dihadapi dalam dunia pendidikan. Guru berkualitas dapat dicapai manakala profesionalisme guru terbentuk. Guru yang profesional adalah guru yang memiliki sejumlah kompetensi yakni kompetensi: pedagogik, kepribadian, sosial, dan professional. Salah satu cara untuk meningkatkan kualitas guru adalah memastikan bahwa guru melakulan refleksi dan melakukan perbaikan yang berkelanjutan melalui pelatihan penelitian tindakan kelas. Pengabdian ini bertujuan memperdalam pengetahuan dan penghayatan calon guru tentang cara berfikir dan bekerja secara kolaboratif dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan di kelas dan melatih keterampilan dalam melakukan penelitian tindakan kelas. Kegiatan dilaksanakan dengan pendekatan Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) dan Community Empowerment (CE) dengan menggunakan metode penyuluhan (ceramah dan diskusi), praktik, dan pendampingan. Hasil kegiatan pelaksanaan pengabdian menunjukkan respon yang sangat antusias bagi alumni calon guru dimana mereka menghendaki agar kegiatan semacam ini rutin untuk dilakukan dan kalau boleh dalam cakupan yang lebih besar. Dari hasil analisis hasil pre test terungkap bahwa pengetahuan Alumni tentang PTK belum utuh dan masih campur baur dengan jenis penelitian quasi eksperimen, Disisi lain juga terungkap bahwa pengetahuan tentang instrument dan observer dalam PTK masih minim. Setelah diberi penjelasan secara detail oleh 5 pemateri barulah mereka memahaminya, dimana hampir 100% peserta sudah dengan benar menjawab pertanyaan seputar PTK. The need for qualified sunscreen materials has increased from year to year. This prompt researchers to find new sunscreen ingredients that have good activity. In this study, new C-styrylcalix[4]resorcinaryl octacinnamate 1 and C-phenylcalix[4]resorcinaryl dodecacinnamate 2 have been synthesized via esterification reaction. The target molecules were characterized by FTIR, 1H-NMR and LC-MS spectrometers. The sunscreen activity was evaluated using an ultraviolet spectrophotometer and the cytotoxicity assay was tested on kidney Vero cells using the cell culture method. Compound 1 was obtained as light brown solid in 68% yield with the melting point of 247 °C. Compound 2 was obtained as light yellow solid in 69% yield with melting point of 268°C. The sunscreen test shows that 1 and 2 can absorb UV-B radiation with the SPF values of 67.45 and 70.85, respectively. The cytotoxicity assay shows that the IC50 values of 1, 2, and parasol are 1468.2, 676.1 and 758.7 μg/mL, respectively. Based on the sunscreen activity test and toxicity assay, it can be said that calix[4]resorcinarenes 1 and 2 have potential to be developed as sunscreen ingredients.
