Abstract:The crisis manager's goal is not only to stop the crisis development in the company, but, as a further step, to achieve the fundamental turnover in its development leading to a successful solution. crisis management requires completely different managerial competencies from those used in "standard" periods as time pressure is a negative factor aggravating the situation and in addition to that, resources are reduced calling for stimulation. A crisis manager should motivate both himself and the staff and it is he who is expected to be creative even under pressure. Klíčová slova: krize podniku, krizové řízení, turnover, manažerské kompetence Supported by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the czech republic (grant no. Relationships among siblings play a crucial role in early socialization and further social development. Siblings inherently belong to the system of family relationships; their observation without involving parent-child bonds, is to some extent, generalization. Therefore, our research analyzes with mutual connections between parenting styles and the characteristics of siblings’ relationships in a family using a quantitative design of data collection and processing. The outputs from the Sibling Relationship Questionnaire and Questionnaire of Parenting Styles in a Family were collected from 264 bachelor’s students. The study found the overall associations of positive emotional relationships and freedom provided by parents with generally desirable characteristics of siblings’ bonds and vice versa, and associations between negative emotional relationships and requirements with negatively perceived traits of siblings’ bonds. The unexpected outcome of our research is that it revealed more connections between paternal parenting styles and the characteristics of sibling relationships than with those of maternal parenting styles. To reflect the complexity of these relationships more precisely, complex structural equation models were created and successfully adjusted.
The primary aim of this paper is to add to the team effort in building a competency model. The secondary aim is to put together a method, namely a set of scales to measure attitudes to work and organization 1 . The competency model will be shortly dealt with in the following paragraph. The main part of the paper, however, will be committed to its second aim. THE COMPETENCY MODELThe present authors assume that a competency model could cover not only a manager, but a general employee. The differences between a manager and an employee of a different rank might concern specific skills and knowledge, which are necessary for the performance on a specific job and/or assignment. Different kinds of skills and knowledge, however, do not have to make it necessary to construe competency differently in specific cases. When attempting to model an employee competency, several facets of this theoretical construct could be identified. First of all, the efficacy of an employee will be an important aspect of the model. Efficacy is connected to self-efficacy, which in turn produces motivation (Wall et al. 2004). In this way, work motivation makes a second part of Attitudes to work and organization as a part of a competency modelPostoje k práci a organizaci jako součást modelu kompetence L. KOLMAN, P. RYMEŠOVÁ Czech University of Life Sciences, Prague, Czech RepublicAbstract: When modelling an employee competency, several facets of this theoretical construct could be identified. One of them is grounded in the employee's attitudes to work and organization, namely in her/his job involvement, organizational commitment, responsibility etc. The paper deals with results of a survey comparing work and organizational attitudes of four groups of subjects. The groups differed in age (20-30 and 50-60) and gender. The survey was a part of a wider research effort aimed at building up a new method of work attitudes measurement. The previous research has shown a rather specific response pattern in the Czech respondents. The survey dealt with presently tries to find more details as goes about the patterns mentioned and to help in constructing a final version of the method. The authors expect that the method will prove to be useful both in theory development and in the field. Key words: competency, attitude, job involvement, organizational commitmentAbstrakt: Při modelování kompetence zaměstnance lze identifikovat několik aspektů tohoto teoretického konstruktu. Auto...
The future of agriculture in the EU is endangered by a constantly diminishing number of young skilled agricultural workers starting their career in agribusiness. The problem of not pursuing in the agricultural career after the university graduation forced us to compare different attitudes of students from the USA (Ohio State University) and the Czech Republic (Czech University of Life Sciences Prague). The article deals with the attitudes towards agriculture in two groups of agriculture university students (n = 201). The data were collected with the use of a standardized Questionnaire on Measuring the Affective and Cognitive Properties of Attitudes. The results of Man-Whitney test indicate that both groups of students show significantly more the affective than the cognitive base of their attitude. Furthermore, U.S. students display more positive attitudes towards the agriculture workers than Czech students. Authors bring forward the issue of attitudes in an attempt to find a way to influence the decision making of skilled agri-graduates to prefer the field of agribusiness over other careers and propose to focus on a change in attitudes, for example by the increase of the level of practical experience with agribusiness in school farm estates.
