The case study was adopted as methodology, having as a research locus a company in the field of road transport of dangerous products. This work made it possible to verify that only the criteria of built area and height, established by Table 5 of Decree 16302/2015, do not reflect the minimum conditions for the establishment of fire safety measures, and especially the hydrant system, fundamental for protection of people and property. This research sought to highlight the relevance of the risk factor, determined by the fire load of the whole building, and considered that this factor should participate in the fire setting criteria established by Table 5 of the aforementioned Decree. The verification by means of the case study demonstrated the importance of considering the fire load as one more criterion to be observed, by means of the calculated value of the fire load of the company object of this study.
