The purpose of the article is to analyze the current of aging population and its impact on economic growth in the Mekong Delta. The article pointed out that aging population has being occured quickly with the trends: the rapid increase of group population aged 60 and over, the differences between localities in the area and the elderly population feminization. This has impacted strongly on the region's economic growth. From the evidences of this study, aging population has influenced both positive and negative to the region's economic growth.
By overview method, the article showed clearly the currently of shifts in social occupational structure in the Mekong Delta. The changes in social structure of jobs in the Mekong Delta is focused on the characters such as labor capability, economic forms, working situation and economic area, which contributes to various characters of shift social structure of jobs. This article presents that this changes has a positive trend such as reducing argiculture, increasing severice and industry field, labour in private and FDI economic forms growth up; working situtation upward to trend. Althought this changes pointed out the slower pace of shifts in comparison to nationwide pace and unstantain. As there was serveral reasons impact on this changes. Thus, this shift had influenced income, social stratification and migration decision of labor in the Mekong Delta. The article also pointed out some evidences about the different income of labor in economic forms and economic area. The author then provided some suggestions on how to facilitate positive shifts in social occupational structure, such as training and resolving jobs policies, linking to between the famers, the scientist, the state and the business man, restructuring economy, promoting policies and environment investment Keywords: Shift, Mekong Delta, economic form, labor migration, occupational structure, shift in occupational structure.
Leisure time use has many benefits for personal and social development. Therefore, leisure time use of the elderly also has positive signification for their lives. By literature review method, the article identifies the current status of leisure time use and its benefits to the elderly's life. The article clearly shows that participating in free time activities helps the elderly reduce depression, improve health and reduce loneliness. Hence, the more active old people participate in leisure activities (exercise, social and cultural activities, etc,…), the higher the life satisfaction is. On this basis, some recommendations with policy implications are proposed to help the elderly have a better life in their final years.
The shift in the population structure is one of the factors that impact strongly on socio-economic development. The purpose of the article is to analyze the current population structure shift in order to show clearly the population development trend in the Mekong Delta. Based on this, the article points out some problems posed from the trend of population structure change such as the risk of sex imbalance at birth, the elderly population feminization and the impact of population aging, the risk of losing the golden population opportunities. The author then some recommendations implied policies are proposed to solve the threats and challenges created by the process of changing population structure.
