We have measured the conductances of dilute solutions of Ba metal, Ba(C104)2, and KC104 in liquid ammonia at -62.37 °C. The data show that Ba metal and Ba(C104)2 behave like weak 1:1 electrolytes under the conditions of our experiments. Values of A0 and the ionization constants for all three solutes obtained by Shedlovsky analyses are 582 ku [1 ku = 1 (ohm cm equiv)"1] and 2.14 X 10"4; 272 ku and 1.90 X 10"3; and 249 ku and 7.13 X 10~4, respectively, for Ba, Ba(C104)2, and KC104 solutions.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
