A novel neural network based modeling for non-linear model identification technique is proposed. It combines a nonlinear steady state model with a linear one, to describe the disturbance and dynamics in the coal-fired power plant. The modeling and training algorithm is used to develop a model of nitrogen oxides (NOx) emitted from the process where one-step ahead optimal prediction formula are developed. Two cases show that the resulting model provides a better prediction of NOx and fitting capabilities.
In this paper, variable step-size Adomian Decomposition Method (VADM) is proposed to obtain approximate analytical solution of coupled Duffing oscillators. Using VADM, analytical expressions for two-degree-of-freedom coupled Duffing equations are derived for different amplitude values of external periodic excitation. The system stability is analyzed by analyzing time-domain graph and phase portraits. Compared with the MATLAB@ ODE45, simulation results reveal that VADM is effectively and well suited for nonlinear dynamic system.
To broaden the application scope of the controllable overrunning clutch, a novel type Separable-Control Overrunning Clutch (SCOC) used in vehicle system has been designed by the authors of this paper. With the special axial arranged structure, the clutch has bidirectional engaging ability and its both sides could be chosen as the driving end. In order to analysis and compare the bidirectional engaging characteristics of the clutch, a nonlinear dynamics model taking into account clearance and elastic contact has been established by ADAMS. Through the simulations, a series of comprehensive summary on the bidirectional engaging characteristic has been drawn and it could provide theoretical guidance for further prototype design and experimental research.

Firstly, a new type of Movable Wedge – Ball Overrunning Clutch (MWBOC) with separable control part has been proposed in this paper. With the axial arranged and detachable structure, the clutch could adjust the self-locking components conveniently and its driven part could rotate freely to control part. The mentioned special structures make the clutch more universal, flexible and lower maintenance costs. Then, according to Hertz Contact Theory, the static structural design and stress check has been implemented. Finally, relying on simulation on the established dynamic model, it can be proved that: With the designed structural parameters, the newly-designed controllable overrunning clutch could realize the designed functions reliably, and the requirements for dynamic performance indexes could be met also.
