Today the development of batik designs is an endeavor for many Batik Depok industries to keep up with lifestyle changes and to continue their existence. Batik Ajbura Trajumas, a Small Medium Enterprise (SMEs) in Depok, needs to explore more batik design to improve the lack of variation of the existing motifs since established in 2016. This study aims to design Batik Depok motifs in Ajbura Trajumas, focusing on color implementation of Indonesian Trend Forecasting (ITF) 2021/2022. The design method uses an approach of design thinking phases of the Hasso Platner Institute (HPI) Stanford model, comprising Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototyping, and Evaluate. The implementation of trends in Batik Tradjumas produces four color themes of styles, including The Exploration (sporty-arty off-beat style), The Exploitation (dramaticstyle), The Spirituality (exotic-classic elegant style), and The Essentiality (femininecasual-style). This research presents innovations of Batik Depok in the form of new motif colors, especially in Batik Ajbura Tradjumas.
Digital media is currently experiencing a very rapid increase. Designers are competing to display their products in digital media, from the world of entertainment to the world of education. Even in the world of education, habits have changed, which were originally face-to-face, now they are starting to use digital media in learning. Books are the main media in learning, transforming into e-books and e-journals. With the change in digital form, the existence of physical books has begun to shift towards digitization. Nevertheless, the existence of physical books is still very popular, because terms of physical books cannot be replaced with digital media, namely the texture of books, sheets when changing pages, covers, and certain interactions that are made that characterize physical books. The design of the book design is an important thing to pay attention to so that the reader does not get bored reading the book. On the other hand, knowledge about book design, layout, layout, and illustrations in Indonesia is still lacking when sought. Based on these considerations, the author wants to answer the question of how the stages of designing book designs and layouts are. The methodology used in this paper is a qualitative method of literature (Literature Review) with the development of 3 stages of the process of making book designs, namely the Pre-Production, Production, and Post-production processes. It is hoped that this article will add a little knowledge about the stages of designing book designs and layouts.
This research is a continuation of previous research in making product design using denim material. What makes this research be unique is using Denim material to apply Batik Betawi Decorative Accents into three-in-one functions. The first function can be a tote bag, and the second one can be a pillow when needed at any time. Another one is becoming the light in the dark. The Batik Betawi Decorative Accents are applied into the Denim material. The research methodology used is the qualitative exploratory approach based on reviewing some literature resources. This qualitative approach would result in descriptive analysis. The content analysis conveys three conditions: objectivity, systematic approach, and generalization. Analysis must be based on rules that are formulated explicitly. The analysis is to look for Indonesian ornamental Betawi varieties in the Jakarta area which are developing Betawi ornamental varieties. And then the application stage is the application of the conclusion of the ornamental motif of Batik with an exploration methodology of denim and plastic materials. It is hoped that this research can be a source of information about Three-in-One product designs that apply the Betawi Batik Motifs Accent into Denim material such as Glow in the Dark.
