Twin pregnancy is the most common type of multiple pregnancy.The global incidence of twin pregnancy is ≈22 per 1000 deliveries. 1 The incidence of spontaneous monozygotic twins is constant worldwide at one in 250 births. 2 However, the number of dizygotic twins is increasing mainly attributable to assisted reproductive techniques. 3 There had been a lot of debate regarding the optimal mode of delivery in twins near term. Originally, a policy of elective lowersegment cesarean section (LSCS) at term had been proposed, 4 which was, however, refuted by later studies. 5 At present, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists supports a policy of individualization according to gestational age, presentation, type of twins, and experience of the clinician. 6
