The study was conducted in Napis Village, Tambakrejo District, Bojonegoro Regency with the aim of expressing an empirical profile of the indicators of the empowerment of smallholder beef cattle farmers using sustainable livelihoods framework tools. Data collection method used in this study is by interviewing respondents directly. The type of data used in this study are primary and secondary data and analyzed with descriptive analysis. The analysis shows that the majority of farmer households (45%) maintain 2 to 3 Animal Units (ST). the majority of breeders' education level only graduated elementary school / equivalent of 41.5% and the average experience of raising beef cattle for 8 years. The 'maro' working relationship (33%) is adopted by farmers, besides raising a cow of their own (27.5%). Most (32.5%) of farmers' households control an area of between 600-1000 m2. From the research it can be concluded that the sustainable livelihoods of the household of beef cattle farmers is not enough to be stated only by indicators of livelihoods-status consisting of 5 types of capital, namely: (1) Human Capital, (2) Natural Capital, (3) Financial Capital, (4) Physical Capital, and (5) Social Capital only, but it also needs to include the farmer household resilience component and the farmer household dynamism component.
ABSTRACT. (Evaluation of sire breeding values on Madura cattle based on body weight and body measurement of their offspring at one-year-age) ABSTRAK. This study aimed to evaluate Madura cattle by using the method of estimating breeding value based on body weight and body measurement. The sampling was carried out by Purposive sampling using data recording offspring the 7 cattle (684, Adikara/160726, 685, Kelesap/160725, Muntahai/16011001, Banteng/934, 386) for Body Weight (BW), Withers Height (WH), Body Length (BL), and Chest Girth (CG) of born in 2014-2020. The data were analyzed by correction of 1 year to 365 days of age, heritability value, breeding value, and correlation ranking of breeding values. The results of the analysis of heritability values of body weight and body measurement of Madura cattle at 1 year of age rating on medium to high category were 0,57 (BW), 0,48 (WH), 0,83 (BL), and 0,61 (CG). A total of 42,85% body weight and body length of cattle at 1 year age have a positive value, while the body height and chest girth has a positive breeding value of 28,57%. The correlation between body weight and body measurement at 1-year-age Madura cattle classified as high category was 0,86 (BW-WH), 0,68 (BW-BL) and 0,86 (BW-CG). The conclusion this study the cattle at the UPT Breeding and Animal Health of East Java Province which has positive values on body weight and body measurement are the Ke lesap/160725 and Adikara/160726 males, while sires can be used as elders in the selection program to improve genetic quality and to produce superior cattle.
The synthesis of various local wisdom values in the Tengger society in terms of utilization of ethnobotany resources as herbal products for health has long been existed in the scope of the Tengger locality and surrounding areas. The comparative advantage of Tengger ethnobotany certainly has potential that can be developed through certain strategies in order to be able to further contribute to the operationalization of the research, development, and application of science and technology (RISBANGRAPIPTEK) in the Field of Health and Medicine 2005–2025 towards a state of adequacy of raw materials and preparations of standardized herbal medicinal products and Indonesia branded for the Indonesian people. Therefore, the research question raised is the formulation of a strategy that must be immediately created and can be used as a reference for the activities of Tenggerese etnobotanical resource development to become a superior branded Indonesian biotechnology commercial product. The sampling method in this study was done by purposive sampling. The method of data collection was done by observation, interviews which included primary data and literature studies which were secondary data. The research method used was descriptive and analytic. The results showed that: 1) the perception map of the Tengger Society towards medicinal plants was classified as a moderate and the relationship of the characteristics of the Tengger Society did not have a close correlation to herbal medicines with a value of r less than 0.8. 2) Determinants that influence the influence of society on traditional medicine are age (X1), income (X3), and education (X4), while number of family dependents (X2) not significant effect. Keywords: determinant factors, ethnobotany, perception
