Ovarian cancer is one of the most malignant genital cancers, with a high mortality rate. Many researchers have suggested that matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) have remarkably high expression in ovarian cancer tissues. MMPs are considered to be related to the occurrence, development, invasion and metastasis of ovarian cancer. Moreover, some studies have discovered that the unbalance between MMPs and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases (TIMPs) are associated with the malignant phenotype of tumors. This review summarizes the latest research progress of MMPs in ovarian cancer. The investigation of MMP mechanism in ovarian cancer will facilitate the development of effective anti-tumor drugs, and thereby improve the survival rate of patients with ovarian cancer.
This was the first study to systematically investigate sodium channel variants in Chinese patients with ARVD; a new SCN5A mutation, I137M, was found. This finding may provide new evidence of the genetic pathogenesis of ARVD in Chinese patients, implying that the SCN5A gene should be screened in patients with ARVD and VT/VF.
Double ventricular response in dual atrioventricular (AV) nodal pathways can result in nonreentrant supraventricular tachycardia. Since this condition was first described in 1979, around 20 cases have been reported. Here, we present the case of a patient with a confirmed diagnosis of double ventricular response in dual AV nodal pathways resembling an interpolated premature beat who underwent successful radiofrequency ablation of the slow pathway.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
