Dynamic recrystallisation of Mg-6Zn-2Nd-0?5Zr alloy at temperature range from 543 to 693 K and strain rate from 0?001 to 1 s 21 are investigated. Flow softening is found to occur and all flow curves exhibit a peak with characteristics of dynamic recrystallisation and change significantly with temperature and strain rate. As a result of dynamic recrystallisation, the grains are greatly refined through dynamic recrystallisation, and the mean size of the recrystallised grain decreases with decreasing temperature or increasing Z parameter. By comparison of the grain sizes, 593 K is found to be the optimal deformation temperature. The yield strength and tensile strength of extruded Mg-6Zn-2Nd-0?5Zr alloy are 320 and 379 MPa respectively, higher than those of ZK60 alloy.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
