We report on a highly sensitive aptameric assay system for the determination of IgE, where a special chemiluminescence (CL) reagent, 3,4,5-trimethoxylphenylglyoxal (TMPG), acts as the signaling molecule and polystyrene beads as the amplification platform. Briefly, a "sandwich-type" detection strategy is employed in our design, where magnetic beads functionalized with a capture antibody were reacted with the target protein IgE, and then sandwiched with the aptamer-barcodes which were prepared by assembling polystyrene beads with IgE aptamer. The target immunoreaction event could be sensitively detected via an instantaneous derivatization reaction between TMPG and the guanine (G) nucleotides within the aptamer-barcodes to form an unstable CL intermediate for the generation of light. Further signal amplification is achieved by extending the G nucleotide-rich domain on the aptamer backbone for second amplification. Such simple amplified CL transduction allows the detection of IgE down to the 4.6 pM level, which is better than most previous aptameric methods for IgE detection. This new protocol also provides a good capability in discriminating IgE from nontarget proteins such as IgG, IgA, IgM, interferon and thrombin. The practical application of the proposed aptamer-barcode based immunoassay was successfully carried out for the determination of IgE in 20 human serum samples. It is straightforward to adapt this strategy to detect a spectrum of other proteins by using different aptamers, thus this method may offer a new direction in designing high-performance CL aptasensors for early diagnoses of diseases.
BackgroundSmartphone addiction (SA) has become a social problem that affects peoples’ quality of life and is frequently reported to be correlated with alexithymia, avoidant or anxious attachment styles, and subjective well-being. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between SA and alexithymia, attachment style, and subjective well-being.MethodsA meta-analysis was conducted following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. The following electronic databases were searched: PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, PsycINFO, PsycArticles, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), WANFANG DATA, and Chongqing VIP Information Co., Ltd. (VIP). Stata 16.0 was used to analyze the overall effect and test the moderating effect.ResultsOne hundred and ten studies were included, involving a total of 96,680 participants. SA had a significantly high positive correlation with alexithymia (r = 0.40), attachment anxiety (r = 0.37), and negative emotions (r = 0.31), and a low positive correlation with attachment avoidance (r = 0.17). In addition, there was a high negative correlation between SA and subjective well-being (r = –0.33) and a low negative correlation between SA, life satisfaction (r = –0.17), and positive emotions (r = –0.18). A moderation analysis revealed that age significantly moderated the relationship between SA and positive emotions. The tools for measuring SA significantly moderated the relationship between SA, alexithymia, attachment anxiety, and subjective well-being. Meanwhile, subjective well-being measurement tools significantly moderated the relationships between SA, subjective well-being, and negative emotions.ConclusionSA was closely related to alexithymia, attachment style, and subjective well-being. In the future, longitudinal research can be conducted to better investigate the dynamic changes in the relationship between them.Systematic review registration[www.crd.york.ac.uk/PROSPERO/], identifier [CRD42022334798].
Background How to kindle the learning enthusiasm of nursing students and reduce the incidence of academic procrastination is an important factor in reducing student attrition and improving the quality of nursing education. Objectives To investigate the mediating role of coping style and resilience on the association between parenting styles and academic procrastination among nursing undergraduates. Methods A cross-sectional study of 683 nursing undergraduates was conducted in China from March to May 2022. Parenting styles, coping style, resilience, and academic procrastination were measured using questionnaires. Descriptive analysis, Pearson’s correlation analysis and Hayes' PROCESS Macro in SPSS 25.0 were used to test the model. Results Positive parenting style had a significantly direct effect on academic procrastination and through three significantly indirect pathways: (1) through positive coping style (B = − 0.048, 95% CI: − 0.074 to − 0.025), accounting for 14.71% of the total effect; (2) through negative coping style (B = − 0.044, 95% CI: − 0.071 to − 0.021), accounting for 13.64% of the total effect; and (3) through resilience (B = − 0.074, 95% CI: − 0.107 to − 0.044), accounting for 22.82% of the total effect. Moreover, negative parenting style had a significantly direct effect on academic procrastination and through two significantly indirect pathways: (1) through negative coping style (B = 0.056, 95% CI: 0.032 to 0.086), accounting for 21.73% of the total effect, and (2) through resilience (B = 0.028, 95% CI: 0.004 to 0.055), accounting for 10.93% of the total effect. Conclusions Intervention measures to reduce the academic procrastination of nursing undergraduates should include the evaluations of coping styles and resilience of nursing students and cultivation strategies to promote their positive coping styles and resilience.
BackgroundPrevious studies have not investigated the role of resilience and coping style on the association between maladaptive perfectionism and academic procrastination among nursing undergraduates. However, how to mobilize the learning enthusiasm of nursing students and reduce the incidence of academic procrastination is an important factor to reduce nursing loss and improve nursing quality.ObjectivesTo investigate the influence of maladaptive perfectionism, resilience and coping style on academic procrastination among Chinese undergraduate nursing students.MethodsA cross-sectional study was conducted. A convenience sampling method was used to select 665 nursing undergraduates from March to May 2022 in China. Maladaptive perfectionism, coping style, resilience, and academic procrastination were measured using questionnaires. The descriptive analysis, Pearson’s correlation analysis and the Hayes’ PROCESS Macro in SPSS 25.0 were used to test the model.ResultsThe results showed that nursing undergraduates’ maladaptive perfectionism, resilience, positive coping style and academic procrastination were significantly correlated between every two variables, with coefficients ranging between −0.290 and 0.584. In addition, resilience played a partial mediating role in maladaptive perfectionism and academic procrastination, accounting for 15.70% of the total effect; in the meantime, this process was moderated by positive coping style.ConclusionMaladaptive perfectionism positively predicted nursing undergraduates’ academic procrastination; as a mediating mechanism with moderating, resilience and positive coping style further explained how maladaptive perfectionism promoted the academic procrastination of nursing undergraduates. Understanding this mechanism is of great significance for nursing educators to reduce the risk of academic procrastination in nursing undergraduates.
