PMN is primed for increased degranulation following major trauma but not following isolated long-bone/pelvis fracture. Accumulation of primed, hyperactive PMN into tissues can lead to severe tissue damage and thus multiple organ failure.
Operative intervention is not without complication. We believe a more accurate understanding of the surgical anatomy is key to the prevention of neurovascular damage arising from the surgical management of distal radial fractures.
