Complexes of a tetradentate macrocyclic Schiff base ligand L with cadmium(II) and mercury(II) ions have been synthesized by the template condensation reaction of l,10-phenanthroline-2,9-dicarboxaldehyde, 1,2phenylenediamine and 1,2-dibromoethane in ethanol medium. The complexes with the semioxidized ligand were characterized through 1R, 'H NMR, EPR and electronic spectral studies, conductivity and magnetic susceptibility measurements. An octahedral geometry has been suggested for the radical complexes, wich have g values close to the free electron confirming the semiquinonic character of the ligand.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
