The AlliedSignal TF40B engine is currently used on the U.S. Navy’s Landing Craft Air Cushion for main propulsion. Through years of LCAC modifications, the net weight of the craft has increased which created a demand for more propulsion power at high ambient temperatures. The enhanced TF40B engine will incorporate compressor and turbine modifications designed to increase airflow by 17%. This will result in a 22% power increase to 5000 SHP and an 8% improvement in specific fuel consumption. The engine will have the capability to supply bleed air at approximately 2 lbm/sec and still maintain the present TF40B rating.
