Synthesis of Fused Thiazolothienopyrimidines. -2-Allylthio-and 2-propynylthiothienopyrimidinones (III) cyclize on treatment with electrophilic reagents to furnish thiazolothieno[2,3-d]-[cf. (IV), (V)] or thiazolothieno[2,3e]pyrimidinones [cf. (VI), (VII)] depending on the nature of the electrophile.
