Overcharging in lead acid battery which is widely used in solar systems is a result of improper charging control.Overcharging can be prevented by designing a suitable control system for charging of batteries. A good charging control system will decrease the storage capacity and service time for power supply. In the current study, an attempt has been made to design a PI algorithm based charging control system for a first-order dynamic model of the lead acid battery system. To track the setpoint response and to reject the disturbances due to external factors such as change in intensity of the solar radiation, a feedback control system has been designed. As the problem approaches to a highly non linear process, conventional control theory is not an appropriate choice. A fuzzy logic controller with a specially chosen triangular membership function has been suggested as an effective alternative approach. It is proved that by employing fuzzy logic technique, the voltage of the battery can be controlled effectively than with a conventional controller.
CFD method is inexpensive method of analysis of flow over aerodynamic structure. It incorporates mathematical relations and algorithms to analyze and solve the problems regarding fluid flow. CFD analysis of an airfoil produces results such as lift and drag forces which determines the ability of an airfoil. Optimization of an airfoil involves improving the design of the airfoil in order to manipulate the lift and drag coefficients according to the requirements. It is a very common method used in all fields of engineering. MATLAB is a numerical computing environment which supports interface with other software. XFoil is airfoil analysis software which calculates the lift and drag characteristics for different Reynolds numbers, Mach numbers and angles of attack. MALAB is interfaced with XFoil and the optimization of NACA 0012 airfoil is done and the results are analyzed. The performance of optimized air foil is analyzed using ANSYS FLUENT software.
The structural analysis of quad rotor frame is important since it has to withstand the forces due to aerodynamics and gravitational force due to the mounted weights. Design optimization based on finite element analysis provides an efficient methodology to meet the desired objectives related to structural elements. In the present study, design optimization based on response surface methodology has been used to optimize the shape of the arm used in the quad rotor. The objectives considered for the study include minimization of Von Mises stress and total deformation. The goal driven optimization used in ANSYS WORKBENCH has been employed for the study and arm has been redesigned to meet the set goals.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
