During the hot rolling of steels, the parent austenite phasedevelops a crystallographic texture. As a result, the material after transformation (ferrite, martensite, acicular ferrite, or bainite) also acquires a texture which is related in a precise way to the texture of the parent material. The major component of the transformation texture derived from recrystallized austenite is the {OOI } 1 0>, which originates from the cube {1 OO} > component of the parent texture. The major components of the texture of pancaked austenite are the Bs {1 10} 12> and Cu {1 1 2} 11 >, and these give rise, respectively, to the {332} 13> and {1 1 3} 10> components in the transformation product.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
