Ground-based microwave ozone observations camed out the Bordeaux Observatory, France since 1985, have put in evidence some difficulties in retrieving vertical profiles : the instrumental baseline and the relative calibration system. In order to improve the quality of data, the laboratory has built a new microwave radiometer for ozone at the frequency of 110 GHz. This sensor is based upon classical principles of sensitive heterodyne techniques using quasi-optics so that an absolute calibration system (hodcold load) is easily realized. The Schottky type mixer has a single side band temperature of 300 K. In addition, the modified beam switching technique described by Panish et al. is used in order to reduce systematic instrumental effects to low levels. Preliminary results were already obtained in June 1990. The radiometer should start its operation during the first semester of 1991. The new results will then be presented.
