Microcellular radios over optical fibers using subcarrier transmission are described. This paper presents the delivery mechanism with cross-connect switch between base stations and a central station. Theoretical optical link performance are discussed. Carrier-to-noise ratio (CNR) performance is also shown as a function of optical modulation index. Dynamic range improvement is proposed through the use of Frequency modulation (FM) method. Economical diversity by way of base station is also described. This strategy will provide a more cost effectiveness and flexible networks.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
