I n t r o d u c t i o n The c o n v e n t i o n a l m e t h o d f o r r a n g e p r o b i n g i n v o l v e s a t i m e consuming repetitive process wherein during each s t e p t h e a r r i v a l angle o f t h e dominant i n t e r f e r i n g component i s deduced from the separation between the adjacent peaks i n t h e probe scan data. A fence i s placed at the corresponding location on the ground, and t h e s c a n i s r e p e a t e d t o c a l c u l a t e t h e a r r i v a l a n g l e s o f t h e r e m a i n i n g i n t e r f e r i n g components. The o b j e c t i v e o f t h i s p a p e r i s t o present a method by which an image of t h e ground ' h o t s p o t s ' i s generated. The method employs plane-polar scanning of the probe, due t o t h e i n h e r e n t s i m p l i c i t y i n i t s mechanical system implement a t i o n . The processing scheme employs a c o n v o l u t i o n -b a c k p r o j e ct i o n m e t h o d f o r i m a g e r e c o n s t r u c t i o n . T h i s m e t h o d u s e d extensively in X-ray computerized axial tomography E11 enables on l i n e p r o c e s s i n g o f t h e d a t a .
