The article discusses the specifi cs of development, national traditions and aesthetic characteristics of Chinese vocal music. The national musical features of the Chinese folk melody (pentatonic scale) are analysed. The classifi cation of Chinese vocal art is given. The types of traditional vocal intonation are considered, as well as the features of modern vocal music through the prism of the repertoire of Chinese composers.
