The purpose of the study is to design and develop a recommended system based on agent and web technologies, which utilizes a hybrid recommendation filtering for the smart tourism industry. A hybrid recommendation system based on agent technology is designed by considering the online communication with other sectors in the tourism industry, such as the tourism supply chain, agency etc. However, online communication between the sectors via agents is designed and developed based on the contract net protocol. Furthermore, the design system is developed on the java agent development framework and implemented as a web application. Case study-based results considering two scenarios involving 100 customers illustrated that the proposed web application improves the rate of the recommendation for the customers. In the first scenario without disturbances, this rate was improved by 20% and the second scenario with disturbances yielded a 30% rate of acceptable recommendation. In addition, based on the second scenario, real time data communication on the system occurred, thus the proposed system supported real time data communication.
Efficacious human resource management (HRM) practices are thought to be a vital factor for the overall achievements of any organization. In this research the authors have examined the generic HRM practices in one of the most important hospitality sectors of Famagusta, a popular touristic city in Northern Cyprus, which is restaurant. The information was collected through semi-structured meetings with the owners of restaurants who are at the same time the managers of the restaurants running in this destination. Findings demonstrate that legitimate HRM practices are not received, particularly even no consideration is given to instructing and nurture of the restaurants' workers especially for the front-line employees who are continuously in direct contact with the customers and their performances are determining in visitors' perceived satisfaction. The findings also illuminated on the fact that although the managers confronting variety of problems due to the lack of training practices related to the employees they prefer to substitute the failed employees with the new job demanders instead of accepting the minor costs of their education. Practical implications for the sector in addition to the limitations of the study as well as future research hints have been provided at the end of the paper for the practitioners and academia.
There are a plethora of empirical pieces about employees' pro-environmental behaviors. However, the extant literature has either ignored or not fully examined various factors (e.g., negative or positive non-green workplace factors) that might affect employees' pro-environmental behaviors. Realizing these voids, the present paper proposes and tests a serial mediation model that examines the interrelationships of job insecurity, emotional exhaustion, met expectations, and proactive pro-environmental behavior. We used data gathered from hotel customer-contact employees with a time lag of one week and their direct supervisors in China. After presenting support for the psychometric properties of the measures via confirmatory analysis in LISREL 8.30, the abovementioned linkages were gauged using the PROCESS plug-in for statistical package for social sciences. The findings delineated support for the hypothesized associations. Specifically, emotional exhaustion and met expectations partly mediated the effect of job insecurity on proactive pro-environmental behavior. More importantly, emotional exhaustion and met expectations serially mediated the influence of job insecurity on proactive pro-environmental behavior. These findings have important theoretical implications as well as significant implications for diminishing job insecurity, managing emotional exhaustion, increasing met expectations, and enhancing ecofriendly behaviors.
