Background: Non-Hodgkin's The current study aims to study the effectiveness of Betadine versus Normal saline dressing on episiotomy wound healing. A quasi experimental study included a Simple random sample of 160 postnatal women (80 mothers used saline dressing and 80 mothers used povid one iodine solution (10%) who had normal vaginal delivery with episiotomy from Ain Shams University Maternity Hospital). Three tools were used for data collection; I. Structured-interviewing questionnaire sheet, II. Standardized REEDA scale and III. Visual Analogue Scale. The results revealed that normal saline had a positive effect on the healing of episiotomy wound among postnatal mothers in form of lower REEDA scale score and pain scores (VAS). The study recommended that; educational session to increase women awareness about use of normal saline after episiotomy in form of leaflet or counseling session should be adopted. There should be integration of the saline dressing as a main part in discharge plan. Further researches to replicate the study on large sample to determine the factors affecting episiotomy wound healing should be applied.
Background: Endometriosis is a chronic and incurable condition associated with debilitating pain and sub fertility that affects approximately 176 million women worldwide. Aim: to evaluate effect of nursing strategies on alleviating endometriosis related symptoms. A quasi-experimental design was utilized. The study conducted at gynecological clinics at Ain shams University Maternity Hospital. A purposive sample of sixty women who meet the criteria of the study. Data were collected through three tools (Endometriosis Structured Interviewing Questionnaire& Endometriosis Health Profile Questionnaire) in addition follow up sheet. Results: there was highly statistical significant improvement in women knowledge regarding endometriosis after implementation of nursing strategy and at follow-up time compared to their knowledge before it. Also there was statistical significant improvement in women self-care practices for alleviating endometriosis related symptoms after implementation of nursing strategy compared to their self-care practices before it. Conclusion: The findings of the current study supported the hypothesis and aim of the present study which stated that women who received nursing strategies had highly statistical significant improvement on total EHP-30, pain & fatigue after implementation of nursing strategy (P value ≥ 0.001**), and also a positive correlation between Endometriosis Health Profile (endometriosis related symptoms), pain, fatigue of the studied sample and their compliance for nursing strategies" diet, exercises& stress management". Recommendation: awareness program should be developed to up raise women knowledge regarding endometriosis and self-care management.
Background: Teenage pregnancy is pregnancy in a female under the age of 20. According to the International Center for Research on women (ICRW) statistics, a third of the world's girls marries before they turn 18 and 1 in every 9 girls is married before they turn 15. The aim of the study: To assess rural teenage pregnant female unmet needs. Design: A descriptive study design was used. Setting: The study was conducted at the antenatal clinics at Damanhur Medical National Institute and Red Crescent center in Damanhur at Beheira Governorate. Sample: A purposive sample of (320) rural teenage pregnant were recruited on the study. Data collection tools: three tools were used for data collection; first was structured interviewing questionnaire schedule, second was health needs assessment sheet and third was likert attitude scale. Results: The result of the present study reveals that the majority of the studied rural teenage pregnant had unmet physiological needs; physiological changes during pregnancy, take enough rest during the day that represent 90.3% and 74.4% respectively. The most unmet psychological needs were recognized the normal psychological changes during pregnancy, and prepare for the role of the mother that represent 95.3% and 73.1% respectively. While, the most unmet social needs were unavailable time to participate in community activities and family member positively provide support when needed that represent 95.3%, and 77.2% respectively. Conclusion: The result of the current study concluded that 70.9% of studied teenage had total physical, psychological and social unmet needs. Moreover, majority of the studied rural teenage pregnant female had positive attitude concerning effect of their unmet needs on their over-all health and pregnancy out-come. Recommendation: Establish pre conceptional counseling program to meet rural teenage pregnant female needs, prenatal health classes should be implemented at antenatal clinics and Maternal and Child Health centers, regarding teenage pregnancy and its consequences.
