SUMMARYWe propose in this paper a time-dependent link scheme for hypermedia. The management of the links accompanying updates in hypermedia is a major subject; in particular, it is an important problem in hypermedia dealing with content which depends on time. This scheme will realize the dynamic creation and expiration functions of links as well as the automatic link control function. We have packaged a prototype system called Mille-feuille using the proposed time-dependent link scheme and have confirmed the schemes validity. This scheme can also be realized by using the extensible markup language (XML).
