The galvanostatic anodization of commercially pure titanium is studied with current densities lower than 500 A m " Mn 1 M sulphuric acid between 25 and 75°C. Two types of electrochemical behaviour are observed; the first type is characterized by a maximutn value of the cell voltage and the second one by a continuous increase of the anode to cathode (which is platinum) potential différence. Thèse différent behaviours may be related to différent structures of the anodic films (as observed by SEM and TEM) and to the compositions of thèse films (as determined by Auger analysis, RHEED and HEED).
Relations between the co lo urs and the electro chemical parameters (current density, quantity o f electricity and température of the electrolyte) durin g the an odization of titan ium sheets were studied in a 1 M H2SO 4 solution. Mathematical théories were developed for the kin etics of growth of the an odic film an d for the colours of this film. Thèse théories show that the relation between the growth an d the colour of the film is complicated. Nevertheless, it was possible to fin d expérimen tal con dition s that led to un iform an d well-defin ed colours.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
