The COVID-19 outbreak has made many countries decide to close schools to prevent the spread, including Indonesia. This leads to online distance learning. Furthermore, online distance learning is carried out by teachers suddenly without prior preparation. Therefore, the teachers' Technological, Pedagogical, Content Knowledge (TPACK), and attitude to conduct online distance learning are crucial. Thus, this study intends to identify chemistry teachers’ TPACK and attitude in online distance learning during the COVID-19 outbreak. Purposed-design survey method was used with 109 participants in Java, Indonesia. The data were collected using online questionnaires then analyzed quantitatively using factor analysis and qualitatively based on the teachers’ response to online distance learning during the COVID-19. The questionnaire used consisted of 36 close-ended statements with a Likert scale and 10 open-ended questions to find out challenges and opportunities for implementing chemistry online distance learning. The results show that the teachers try to adapt their way of teaching and assessment by using various technology platforms for online distance learning. The attitude and TPACK of the teachers tend to be positive in responding to online distance learning even though some senior teachers have a negative tendency to the aspects of attitude and technological knowledge. It can be implied that training in the use of various technologies, and enhancement of chemistry teachers’ TPACK skills are needed to produce better online distance learning. These results are expected to provide an overview of the challenges and opportunities of online distance learning in chemistry during or beyond the COVID-19 outbreak.
Keterampilan meneliti meliputi keterampilan dasar, yaitu observasi, mengukur, klasifikasi, komunikasi, membuat inferensi, membuat prediksi, dan keterampilan terintegrasi berupa menafsirkan data, mengendalikan variabel, membuat definisi operasional, dan merumuskan hipotesis, dan melaksanakan eksperimen. Secara umum keterampilan meneliti meliputi keterampilan merancang, melaksanakan, dan melaporkan hasil penelitian. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk meningkatkan keterampilan meneliti mahasiswa S-1 Program Studi Pendidikan Biologi Se-wilayah III Cirebon. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif. Teknik analisis data menggunakan statistik deskriptif. Instrumen penelitian menggunakan tes dan kuesioner. Sampel diambil secara acak sederhana. Hasil penelitian ini adalah rataan tingkat penguasaan keterampilan meneliti merancang tercapai sebesar 51,3%, melaksanakan penelitian sebesar 55,21%, dan melaporkan hasil penelitian 62,82%. Keterampilan meneliti kurang diberikan pelatihan pada saat pembelajaran, hanya 43,8% dosen pembimbing praktikum yang memberikan pembekalan keterampilan meneliti. Kesimpulan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan meneliti mahasiswa S-1 Prodi Pendidikan Biologi Se-wilayah III Cirebon masih tergolong dalam kategori kurang. In general, research skills include the skills of designing, implementing, and reporting the results of research. The purpose of this study was to improve the research skills of undergraduate students in the Biology Education Study Program in Region III Cirebon. This research uses quantitative descriptive methods. Data analysis techniques using descriptive statistics. Research instruments using tests and questionnaires. Samples are taken at random. The results of this study are the average mastery level of researching design skills reached 51.3%, carrying out research amounting to 55.21%, and reporting research results of 62.82%. Research skills were not given training while learning, only 43.8% of practicum supervisors provided research skills. The conclusion of the study shows that the research skills of undergraduate students of Biology Education Study Program in Region III Cirebon are still classified in the inadequate category.
Teaching jobs are regarded as the noblest of all the professions in the world. The quality of education in any educational institute hinges on the availability of good teachers. “Technology won’t replace teachers. But Teachers who use technology will probably replace Teachers who do not.” It is important to recognize that, the teachers are becoming more knowledgeable of Information and Communication Technology outcomes (ICTs), they continue to have knowledge or skill with which to integrate those technologies into their teaching. As the twentyfirst century approaches, the literate citizen is increasingly expected to use computer technology to access and manipulate information. Knowing how to manage electronic information from an ever-widening array of resources and in proliferating formats is essential. The education system was now witnessing a paradigm shift from the traditional chalk-and-board teaching methodology to digitizing the pedagogical approach through technical devices. A transformation would not only increase the capability of the teachers but would also widen the knowledge base of students so as make them competitive in the international arena. The technology orientation needs to improve in order to equip themselves to face the students belong to the digital era and also to face the challenges in the modern classroom.
a b s t r a c tThis study aims to explore the effectiveness in learning Capita Selecta of Biology based on the problem to create a Habits of Mind. This research carried out by the background wants to improve the quality of thinking, one of which is the ability of individuals to behave intelligently, or called Habits of Mind. Hence the need for a study that provides the space and the opportunity for stude nts to build a real knowledge through the concrete experiences, or learning which is constructivism (Dahar, 2001;Olson, 2009). The examples of such learning are learning based on problems. To implement the required courses that have complex concepts one of which is the course of Capita Selecta Biology. Capita Selecta Biology includes one of the subjects that studying various biological topic complete and comprehensive. The concepts in the course of Capita Selecta Biology requires high-level thinking skills because there are many abstract concepts and need a strong imagination. The study aims to seek the learning effectiveness of Capita Selecta Biology based on the problems which create a Habits of Mind. The method of this research is a quantitative pre-experimental design that uses one group pretest-posttest design. After doing the research, it can be concluded that the learning Capita Selecta Biology based on the problems was effective in forming the Habits of Mind of students as teachers candidate, in particular, the effective toward the formation of critical thinking indicators of Habits of Mind. The response of students to studied Capita Selecta Biology based on the problems included in the strong criteria. This shows that the learning Capita Selecta Bio logy based on the problems can be received positively by students.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari efektivitas pembelajaran Kapita Selekta Biologi berbasis masalah terhadap pembentukan Habits of Mind. Penelitian dilakukan dengan latar belakang ingi n meningkatkan kualitas berpikir, salah satunya adalah kemampuan individu untuk berperilaku cerdas, atau disebut Habits of Mind.
