We did a non-systematic review of articles on the Google Scholar platform from January 1992 until February 2018.Preference was given to articles in Portuguese or English whose title presented the descriptors "seizures" or "epilepsy" associated with the most commonly used classes of antibiotics: penicillins, cephalosporins, quinolones, carbapenems, metronidazole and isoniazid. From this Abstract Objective: make a review about the risk of seizures related to the use of antibiotics. Method: We perform a non-systematic review using Google Scholar platform approaching the relationship between seizures and the most used antibiotics classes in clinical practice. Results and Discussion: 34 papers in English language were used for this review. Conclusion:Rarely antibiotics may cause seizures, mainly in patients with renal dysfunction, hepatic or previous brain disease. It is important to learn about drugs at greatest risk of seizures in each class of antibiotics. The treatment involves the use of correct medications, primarilygabaergic drugs, avoiding ineffective anticonvulsants.
Three dimensional bioprinting is the modern technique extensively used in regenerative medicine and tissue engineering for the development of multifaceted biological structures such as complex tissues and organs. Computer aided design (CAD) is being used to design complicated three dimensional structures. After designing the desired structure, next step of bioprinting involves the deposition of "bio inks" in the designed shapes. These bio inks are enriched with living cells and any medium supporting and nourishing these cells. Various bioprinters and bio inks based on agarose, collagen, hyaluronic acid, fibrin, Matrigel and pluronic® F-12 are discussed with respect to the advantages, disadvantages and suitability in the development of complex 3D biostructures. 3D bioprinting technology is a futuristic approach for tissue engineering and synthesis of other biological structures with greater feasibility which will help to overcome the hurdles in all medical fields.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
