The study examined the effect of exchange rate and inflation on stock market returns in Ghana using monthly inflation and exchange rate data obtained from the Bank of Ghana and monthly market returns computed from the GSE all-share index from January 2000 to December 2013. The autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) cointegration technique and the error correction parametization of the ARDL model were used for examining this effect. The ARDL and its corresponding error correction model were used in establishing the long-and short-run relationship between the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) market returns, inflation, and exchange rate. The result of the study showed that there exists a significant long-run relationship between GSE market returns and inflation. However, no significant short-run relationship between them existed. The result also showed a significant long-and short-run relationship between GSE market returns and exchange rate. The variables were tested for long memory and it was observed that such property did exist in these variables, making it a desirable feature of which investors can take advantage of. This is due to the establishment of long-run effect of inflation and exchange rate on stock market returns.
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Van Hiele instructional model on students’ achievement in Circle Geometry at Daffiama Senior High School in the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa District of the Upper West Region in Ghana. The purposive and simple random sampling techniques were employed to select a sample of 75 participants for the study. The sample involved two groups: the experimental group and the control group. While teaching based on the Van Hiele model was carried out in the experimental group, teaching with the traditional method was carried out in the control group. The study employed a quasi-experimental research design. The instruments used for data collection were tests, interviews, and classroom observation. Findings from the data analysis suggested that participants were at the prerecognition level before the intervention, improved from the prerecognition level to level 2 after the intervention as the model facilitated learning. It was recommended that teachers determine the geometric thinking levels of students before instruction; the Van Hiele learning and instructional model is adopted in curriculum design and applied in the teaching of geometry and other areas of mathematics.
This study was intended to find out how effective and efficient the use of games are in teaching spelling in order to develop the spelling abilities of pupils in primary four of Kormanstse Methodist primary 'A'. This study aimed at highlighting the benefits of using spelling games as strategies for teaching spelling. The collection of data was done using the instruments teacher made tests and an interview. The research design comprised of two pretest, four intervention and posttests as an action research study. The pretests was administered to diagnose and assess the knowledge level of pupils on the topic (spelling). The intervention consisting of various spelling games was conducted to develop pupils' ability to spell new words without struggle. After the intervention, a posttest followed. This posttest proved that the use of spelling games had a positive impact on the pupils thereby contributing significantly to pupils' spelling abilities. Intervention applied made a great difference in the pupils' spelling ability. The study was also recommended that teachers should be encouraged to use different games and strategies to teach spelling so that it will enhance interactive and interesting spelling lessons for better performance.
The core of the paper was to investigate the possibility of local hidden variable theory and its application in quantum teleportation. We reviewed literature on the Bell's inequality which is necessary for quantum teleportation. Quantum teleportation utilises a single-particle entangled state which can be successfully achieved by the application of the locality assumption which leads to Bell's inequality. A violation of the Bell's inequality signifies the nonlocal nature of a single particle useful for quantum teleportation.
