This study attempts to examine the relationship between service quality dimensions and overall service quality (tangibility, responsiveness, reliability, assurance and empathy) and students satisfaction. Furthermore, this study is also examine critical factors in service quality dimensions (tangibility, responsiveness, reliability, assurance and empathy) that contributes most to the satisfaction of the students. This study was conducted using a set of questionnaire to 200 Bachelor Degree students from two private higher education institutions. The study will provide results from empirical test of these relationships. The empirical results of this study can provide support for the Parasuraman’s SERVQUAL (1985), which related to the factors contributing to students’ satisfaction.
Previously, very less research done to test demographic factors that contribute towards satisfaction and service quality. This study attempts to examine the differences of selected demographic factors (gender, races and semester of studies) on the students' satisfaction and service quality. Furthermore, this study is also to examine any relationship between age and students' satisfaction and service quality. This study was conducted using a set of questionnaire to 200 Bachelor Degree students from two private higher education institutions. The study will provide results from empirical test of these differences and relationships. The empirical results of this study can provide any differences, which related to students' satisfaction on service quality.
Darvel Bay, located on the east coast of Sabah and facing the Sulawesi Sea, is the largest semi-enclosed bay in the east coast of North Borneo. In Sulawesi Sea, strong surface winds and corresponding ocean response occur during the southwest and northeast monsoon periods. The area consists of many islands and complex bathymetry contributing to its unique marine environment, which is considered as one of the most biologically diverse marine environment in the world. Water circulation and mixing play an important role on distribution of marine ecosystem components and the survival rate of marine organisms. This paper covers a study on water current velocities and water circulation patterns in Darvel Bay, under different tidal conditions and monsoonal variations, through field investigations and model calculations. Field measurements were conducted using two holey sock drogues tracking and Aquadrop Profiler current meter at the tip of Sakar Island. Hydrodynamic model calculations were conducted using MIKE 21 HD Model. The computational results were calibrated and verified using field measurement data. Based on the hydrodynamic simulations data, time series of current velocity at three location points were randomly selected around the bay to compare changes in current velocity during ebb and flood tides. Findings of this study can be used for different aquaculture activities, coastal developments and integrated coastal zone management planning in the study area.
Magnetic water is produced when water is passed through a magnetic field with the purpose of modifying its structure. The changes in physical and chemical properties of magnetised water affect the biological properties of the organisms. The magnetic field can affect the growth of fish from the embryo to the adult stage. The present study evaluates the effects of magnetic field exposure on water properties and hatchability of the eggs of African catfish (Clarias gariepinus). Water was passed through magnetic devices of different intensities; namely: 0.10, 0.15 and 0.20 Tesla. The dissolved oxygen (mgL-1) and pH levels were found to significantly (P ≤ 0.05) increase from 5.92 mgL-1 to 6.33 mgL-1, and from 8.03 to 8.19, respectively. Ammonium (NH4-N mgL-1) level declined significantly (P ≤ 0.05) (0.20 mgL-1 to 0.16 mgL-1). Salinity (ppt), conductivity (uscm-1), specific conductance (uscm-1) and total dissolved solids (mgL-1) also decreased after magnetization. Significant increase in the rate of hatching was attained in water exposed to a magnetic field of 0.10, 0.15 and 0.20 T. The study demonstrated the benefits of using magnetic devices that are simple, practical and cost-effective.
The HALAL tourism is flourishing in its own right as an industry, where Malaysia is the world's leading Halal industry with Halal tourism destination making a significant contribution to overall economic growth. However, to secure this reputable image Malaysia has to build a strong brand image groundwork for future sustainability. By obtaining a combination of brand image benefits and destination loyalty model, this study, therefore, aims to examine whether there is a significant relationship between brand image benefits (i.e. symbolic, functional, social, and experiential benefits) and destination loyalty among tourists visiting Malaysia as a brand of Halal tourism destination. A self-administered questionnaire was used to gather information from 300 selected respondents and analyzed it using Smart PLS. Results revealed that symbolic, functional, and experiential benefits have a significant relationship with destination loyalty among tourists visiting Malaysia. The theoretical and practical implications of the results are discussed and the future improvement of the research is suggested.
