This article deals with English and Russian phraseological units (PUs) with the component denoting family relationship (Russian семья and English family) within its structure; the study of their semantic, emotionally expressive and stylistic features. Thus, PUs were selected from a number of mass media texts and phraseological dictionaries. Phraseological unit has always been considered the most important bearer of specifics of the language. Therefore, constant studies of functioning of the native and non-native languages, the process of teaching and cross-cultural communication demands the skillful use of languages. The relevance of the research material is explained by the fact that phraseology is an important part of the language system that reflects the picture of the world of native speakers. Such effective transformations as: 1. Lexical transformations, 2. Syntactic transformations, 3. Morphological transformations are under study in this article. Phraseological unit is analyzed in the context that combines both information and influence on the reader or listener. The author expresses his own attitude using emotional, expressive phraseological units.
The article is devoted to transformed phraseological units studies implied in mass media, particularly, in blogs. Using materials of American and Russian governmental blogs we studied modified variants of phraseologisms, described mechanisms of transformations and made up a classification of transformations. Special attention is given to deviations of semantical stability within the structure of phraseological units and to transformations which appear when such deviations occur.
The article aims to reveal and analyze phraseological paradigm of transformed PUs in the context within two remote cognates. The following problems arise: 1) detection and analysis of semantics and semantic structure of transformed phraseological units; 2) allocation of general features of using such PUs in the context; 3) investigation of functioning of such PUs in classical works of English and Russian literature. Semantic, grammatical, componential and contextual aspects of using such phraseological units are analyzed in the present research. The paper presents the analysis and comparison of such linguistic systems as semantic macro and micro structures of PUs in English and Russian languages. The meaning of a PU presents a combination of two major macro components: 1) significative and denotative meaning and 2) connotative meaning. The semantic analysis of PUs gives us a fundamental understanding of existing of such micro components of meaning as estimation, emotionality, expressiveness and functioning in the context within the whole structure of meaning.
