This service activity aims to provide understanding and training to school librarians in Pekanbaru City. A common problem for partners is that they do not have adequate skills in operating SLiMS 9 Bulian. This service activity is expected to increase the understanding and skills of school librarians in Pekanbaru City regarding the operation of SLiMS 9 Bulian. The output produced according to this activity plan is in the form of scientific articles. The method of implementing activities is counseling. Submission of material is carried out by lecturers who are members of the team that propose community service activities. Based on the results of this activity, it can be concluded that there is an increase in the understanding and skills of participants in operating SLiMS 9 Bulian. Although in this activity participants can not attend with the maximum online, disorders caused by internet network.
This study aimed at explaining the implementation of promotional activities done by Library and Archives Service (BPA) of Pekanbaru City in increasing the number of visitors. This qualitative study was conducted to investigate the implementation of promotional activities, the obstacles often faced when a promotional event was implemented, and the attempts to overcome the challenges. Based on the result of the study, it was found out that BPA has conducted some library promotional activities since 2013 namely brochure distribution; online promotion in the website; handing out BPA stickers, merchandises, and tokens of appreciation; and designing Pekanbaru (digital library in hand). Some other promotional activities were a mobile library visit to elementary schools and crowded public places such as Car Free Day and the Great Mosque of An-Nur. The competition events ever conducted were elementary school level story-telling contest, kindergarten level coloring contest, and writing game via websites for elementary school, junior high school, and senior high school students throughout Pekanbaru City. The library also participated in the exhibition conducted by the Library and Archives Service of the Riau Province. Based on the interview result with authority in the service and promotion department, it was stated that the Pekanbaru society has started to get familiar to the existence of the Library and Archives Service (BPA) of Pekanbaru City. As the evidence, the number of visitors was increasing every year. On the other hand, the other obstacles faced by the institution were the limited human resources and the small supporting fund, and the policies which were slightly unsupportive to the service and promotion section.
This service activity aims to provide understanding and training to Administrative Employees of Limbungan Village Office. A common problem with partners is that they do not have adequate skills in managing archives electronically. This service activity can improve the understanding and skills of the Administration employees in Limbungan Village Office. The outputs produced according to this activity plan are in the form of scientific articles. The method of implementing the activity is counseling. Submission of material is carried out by lecturers who are members of the team proposing community service activities. Based on the results of the pretest and posttest, it can be concluded that there is an increase in the participants' understanding of electronic archives and their management using a system, where this system will also assist in the retrieval of these archives.
Pengabdian ini dilakukan atas dasar bahwa penulis tergerak setelah melakukan survey ke Kantor Kecamatan Rumbai Pesisir, Penulis melihat masih belum terkelolanya arsip dengan baik dan juga sistem pengarsipan yang belum sesuai dengan standar. Dalam praktik pengelolaan arsip berbasis kertas, banyak permasalahan yang dihadapi, sehingga memberikan ruang pada media elektronik sebagai alternatif dalam pengelolaan arsip. Dalam terminologi kearsipan, media elektronik dikelompokan sebagai arsip media baru. Salah satu bentuk penyimpanan arsip media baru adalah media digital. Media digital biasanya memerlukan alat bantu berupa komputer, karena tidak dapat dibaca secara langsung. Arsip yang disimpan dalam bentuk digital dapat berupa gambar, suara, video, tulisan atau lainnya yang dapat dijadikan sebuah data dalam bentuk biner (binary), dapat diolah dalam program komputer dan disimpan dalam media penyimpanan data digital. Mudah-mudahan dengan adanya pengabdian ini akan menambah ketrampilan mereka dalam hal mendigitalisasikan Arsip dan penggelolaan Arsip dan sistem pengarsipan yang baik sehingga dapat meningkatkan pelayanan Publik. Pengabdian ini akan dilaksanakan untuk Staff di Kecamatan Rumbai Pesisir. Untuk mencapai target luaran kegiatan ini, maka metode yang dilakukan adalah pelatihan kepada mitra. Pelatihan yang diberikan adalah teknik tata cara mendigitalkan Arsip, pengelolaan dan pemberian motivasi untuk bisa memengelola Arsip dengan baik. Rancangan PKM : (1) Sebelum diberikan materi pelatihan peserta diberikan selembar kuesioner untuk melihat kemampuan dan pengetahuan peserta tentang Arsip Digital setelah itu peserta diajak untuk memahami pentingnya pelatihan ini sebagai bekal dalam meningkatkan ketrampilan dan (2) peserta diajak untuk praktik dengan dipandu oleh seorang instruktur yang sudah berpengalaman. (3) Pada tahap terakhir, setelah peserta memiliki ketrampilan dalam mendigitalkan Arsip dan mengelola kearsipan serta bagaimana tata cara penyusunan arsip difilling Kabinet selanjutnya mereka diberikan selembar kuesioner, dari hasil olahan kuesioner dapat dilihat bahwa kemampuan staf meningkat secara signifikan sebesar 64,62%, kemudian dari jumlah peserta yang ditargetkan 10 orang ternyata yang ikut 13 orang, ini menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan ini memang sangat diperlukan staf dalam pekerjaan sehari hari.
