This paper argues that Pythian 6 v^as reperf ormed at the premier oiIsthmian 2. The audience's reception ofthe two performances is explored, as well as the social and performative agenda oí Isthmian 2. It is argued that this joint performance had a specific social utility: to direct the audience to construe Thrasyboulos as the heir to his father's status and honour.
