Periods of artificial light were manipulated to induce synchronous ovulation in a group of pigtailed macaques. Treatments consisted of constant light exposure over diminishing periods of 9,7,5,3 and 3 days. Ovulation was assessed externally and assumed to have occurred on the first day of perineal detumescence. The results demonstrate that manipulation of light exposure affects reproductive cycling.
