The study seeks to discover the concurrent mediating effect of self-esteem and social support between personality traits and life satisfaction. A Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) was performed to determine the model of relationship on personality, social support, self-esteem, and life satisfaction. The Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) has achieved the fitness index requirement on the measurement model. The results show that Personality significantly affects Life Satisfaction. The result for Social Support shows it was partially mediated the relationship between Personality and Life Satisfaction. The result also shows that Self-Esteem partially mediates the relationship between Personality and Life Satisfaction. By understanding their life satisfaction; it can forecast and promote longevity, survival and suicide risk prevention; it may accordingly promote good health and greater academic success among the students. In turn, it contributes to the existing body of knowledge in the area of SWB, specifically the life satisfaction among students in Malaysians universities. The administrator, academicians, counsellors, and parents are the group of people that benefit a lot on the outcome of this study.
As technology progresses in education, 21st-century educators need to use impactful instructional methods to ensure that the focus of education is on preparing today's children for the future. However, the biggest challenge for most lecturers in Multimedia University is teaching the non-graded subjects (pass or fail in nature). Since the subjects do not affect the CGPA, students were found not being serious or showing interest in the class. Consequently, it affects the learning outcome of the subject and also the psychosocial and moral of the students and lecturers. Therefore, action research using the Scaffolding method with a group of lecturers teaching non-graded subjects to see the effectiveness and impact on student’s learning. Grooming and Professional Etiquette subjects were chosen to be the focus of this study. The lecturers applied the new role of teachers in education using the scaffolding teaching method. Students were given tasks to organize a grooming and professional etiquette program while they showed groomed behavior. There were lectures and small discussions in the class before the event. There were peer discussion and collaboration before and during the event with minimum supervision from the lecturers. Survey questionnaires were distributed to the students at the end of the event/class for the particular semester. The results showed that this approach managed to boost up students’ grooming and professional etiquette as well as their class participation. They enjoyed the activities, more attentive, and confident when experiencing the task themselves rather than listening to lectures and watching videos in the class. Mata Pelajaran Umum (MPU) or Genaral Subject was introduced at Private Higher Learning Institutions to replace Mata Pelajaran Wajib (MPW). There are several subjects that must be handled in Malay as directed by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia such as Tamadun Islam dan Tamadun Asia, Hubungan Etnik, dan bahasa Kebangsaan A. The focus of this study is given on the use of Malay language in the teaching and learning of the MPU. The purpose of this study is to examine the use and understanding of students in the learning of MPU. Questionnaire was conducted and distributed through google form to 366 students from different backgrounds. The findings showed that there was significant correlation between respondents' perceptions towards MPU and the use of Malay language in the teaching and learning of MPU subjects. Thus, students can understand the teaching and learning of MPU in Malay. The findings of this study can serve as a good move to IPTS to help restore the glory of the Malay language in the country by offering a program through the process of teaching and learning in Malay language.
Cartoons are not only seen as a media channel to provide entertainment to the community. This is because cartoons play an important role as a very effective medium of information delivery to all groups. The message in the cartoon is conveyed either through the language use and illustrations or mere illustrations from a cartoonist. The display of illustrations with the language used in cartoons in the press indirectly brings current issues in various aspects. Even though these illustrations can help stimulate one's ideas and maturity in evaluating a message. The purpose of this study is to examine language use as a communication strategy in cartoons and describe the use of direct and indirect methods in cartoons. As such, the use of language as a communication strategy is examined based on the language use used in cartoons, namely the language use through direct methods and indirectness methods. The study was conducted qualitatively through a descriptive approach. Study data were taken and collected from cartoons or illustrations produced by Maro cartoonists in the Malaysia Kita column, Mingguan Malaysia. The illustration taken as study data is an illustration that gives an overview of the current situation of the country in Mingguan Malaysia every Sunday for the July and August issues in 2019 and August 2020. Data analysis is done through an approach that presented by Asmah Hj Omar through research on the language use through indirectness methods and the language use through direct methods. The results of this study can be observed that the cartoon in the newspaper clearly shows that there is an emphasis on these two methods as a communication strategy used through language use as a way to ensure that the message conveyed can be understood by all parties. Thus, language use through this indirectness method is the main choice in the delivery of storytelling through cartoons. The study of language on cartoon illustrations needs to be given a wider focus because there are still many vacancies that need to be examined.
