The research was carried out in a Cerrado fragment, located in the east of Maranhão State, aiming to analyze the floristic composition and phytosociological aspects of Leguminosae species. For data collection, the fixed plots method was applied in three areas, with 10 sample units of 10m x 10m per area (30 plots), where all individuals of the Leguminosae family were inventoried. Were analyzed 29 genera and 50 species. Papilionoideae and Mimosa L. were the most representative subfamily and genus in number of species, respectively. Regarding habits, shrub type stood out with 19 species. In the vegetation physiognomy, it was observed that the most representative was Gallery Forest with 24 species. Species richness from the richness estimator (Jackknife 1) showed that the estimated specific richness for the collection sites ranged from 3.12 to 4.25, which indicates a higher potential diversity. Regarding the Maximum Diversity In (S) index, a variation of 2.89-3.09 was observed in the municipality of Coelho Neto, with values higher than the other municipalities. For the Shannon Diversity Index, the values ranged from 2.74 to 2.85, demonstrating considerable diversity in the studied areas. Regarding the dominance index (Simpson), values between 0.95-0.97 were obtained, demonstrating low species dominance. Regarding the Pielou index (J '), values were found between 0.95-0.97, which represents a good homogeneity.
Bryophytes were collected from a Cerrado fragment, located in the mu nicipality of Caxias, Maranhão/Brazil. In the study area, 175 bryophytes were distributed in 12 families (10 mosses and two liverworts), 17 genera (15 mosses and two liverworts) and 23 species (21 mosses and two liverworts). Sematophyllaceae was the most representative family w ith four species (Trichosteleum subdemissum, Microcalpe subsimplex, Brittonodoxa subpinnata, and Taxithelium planum), followed by Dicranaceae, Fissidentaceae, and Pottiaceae with three species each. The species of bryophytes in the researched area colonized substrates, such as corticolous, terrestrial, rupicolous, epixylics and casmofites. The table shows the families, species, phytogeographic domains in Brazil and colonized substrates.
The identification of the ornamental potential of plants has grown in recent years, being a worldwide trend, but still underdeveloped in Brazil, where knowledge about this diversity is incipient. Ferns and lycophytes constitute a heterogeneous group, with a diversity of habitat and morphological variations that provide them with a strong ornamental potential, which is still little explored. In this context, in order to subsidize information on the ornamental and landscaping potential of pteridophytic flora, this study aimed to carry out a floristic survey of the species of ferns and lycophytes ornamental in the municipality of Caxias, Maranhão. In order to carry out this study, collections were carried out in places selling ornamental plants, leisure and wellness areas (squares and clubs), residences, hotels and hospitals in the municipality. Ferns and lycophytes cultivated as ornamentals in the municipality of Caxias/MA are represented by 21 species (19 species of ferns and two of lycophytes) distributed in 14 genera and 10 families. Of these, nine species can be found in the municipality native flora, and two are considered exotic in Brazil. The potential of this group of plants is related to the aesthetic values of their structures and adaptive plasticity, presenting characteristics suitable for ornamental and landscape use. The present research contributes in a significant way about information about the landscaping and ornamental potential of ferns and lycophytes.
