COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) pandemics changed social dynamics in several aspects, the introduction of containment measures to ensure social distancing was one of these changes, it made education institutions adopt the remote learning system. In order to understand the impact on the leaning process, this paper aims at devising and developing a measurement instrument to quantify students’ perception regarding the adaptation to the remote education provided by the Federal University of Amazonas – UFRA, over classroom-based learning, which was adopted previously to the COVID-19 context, that being the latent trait to be measured. For this purpose, theoretical procedures from the Construction Model for Psychological Tests and Measures and the psychological evaluation incorporated multiple perspectives. To validate the content, the study set three phases: 1) initial construction of the measurement instrument and literature review; 2) establishment of student focus groups; 3) judge’s analyses to outline factors and potential items. Finally, the instrument presented to the content validity index an average acceptance of 94.16% per item, and acceptance values of over 93.43% to factors and domains.
This work presents the description of the IPCC (In-Pit- Crushing and Conveying) mining method and analyze the profile of productivity losses of a mining company in Northern Brazil. A complete description of the IPCC mining and the measurement of the key performance indicators. The description was relevant, as it details this type of Open-Pit mining contributing to the perspective of achieving the annual production goals. Thus, we found that availability represents a greater impact in production, accounting for a total loss of -3,286,656 ton. Hence, it was possible to identify the months on which there were larger losses in ore production. There is a need to investigate the operation performance to improve the PU indicator, which directly impacted the increase in corrective maintenance of the equipment. The dataset was collected from the equipment involved in the mining stage in 2019. The result of this research will help responsible managers implement efforts directed towards the indicator that represents greater loss of productivity. The description of the innovative and operational IPCC method in a single Brazilian mine, which allows greater flow of ore in less time than the conventional method, combines with the identification of months and values of greater productivity losses.
The performance measure of a production can be determined by applying tools that can evaluate the relationship between production functions, process quality and maintenance, and propose an integrated management model. The objective of this study was to propose the application of the PDCA cycle and to use its analysis to minimize the operational impacts that lead to non-compliance with the goals established in the Production Master Plan compared to the actual one. The motivational problem at work is related to the adoption of the innovative IPCC mining method by a Brazilian mining company, which in 2019 had a production plan of 18,051,425.8 tons; however, it produced 13,526,587.5. It was possible to observe the good performance of the action plan regarding the results of the indicators and standardization of the processes. In summary, the indicators showed an average performance higher than expected for 2020. As for variability, the indicators showed a decrease in the standard deviation between performance and schedule. It is noteworthy that the PU, productivity and average production indicators showed an upward trend.
The biosafety protocols adopted to ensure social distancing between people during the COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic changed social interaction behavior and led educational institutions to adopt the emergency remote teaching format. To understand the impact on the learning process, this article aims to develop and build a measurement tool to measure the perception of students regarding the adequacy of remote teaching, offered by the Federal Rural University of the Amazon (UFRA), to the detriment of onsite teaching previously adopted in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, this being the latent trait to be measured. For content-based validation, the study conducted three phases: 1) initial construction of the measurement tool and literature search; 2) conducting focus groups with students; and 3) analysis by judges to outline factors and potential items. The tool presented for the content validity index a mean of 94.16% of acceptance per item and values above 93.43% of acceptance for the factors and domains. For validation based on the internal structure, this study applied the concepts of item response theory, factor analysis, and dimensionality. The overall precision of the tool scores was analyzed using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, whose value obtained was 96.64%, indicating high precision. Besides the coefficient, the precision of the tool was analyzed through the information function of the IRT test, whose result is in the interval between (-1.5 and 2.5) approximately. Finally, a standardized measurement scale was created with the metric (0,10) from 501 respondents, and it was possible to observe that a profile associated with a perceived negative loss of teaching quality is positioned at levels lower than -10 and referring to that 30.2% of students, at the levels (-5 to 5), are more likely to be positioned at a level of equivalence and refer to 45.7%, and at higher levels to 7, with 24.1% of the respondents, are associated with a positive perceived gain in teaching quality.
