AbstractThe importance of learning style in student’s learning performance has been gaining scholar’s attention since it was coined in the early 70s. Atmatzidou’s robotics procedure of a five-stages robotic activities was deployed in the research. This study adopts a case study research design for gathering and analyzing data as the case research allows the exploration of unforeseen phenomena and offers insights into the interdependencies among components revealed in the study. This research introduces the use of Lego Mindstorm as the mean of pro-filing a student’s behavioral patterns. Student’s behavior patterns, then, mapped into radar charts to present the extent of both Kolb and science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM)’s profile of student’s learning style categories. The paper contributes to theory by extending Kolb’s Learning Style instrument by mapping the pattern of learning styles identified in the research and exploring students learning experience. Dominant four-domain-indicators captured during the activities characterize Students’ learning profiles. While the Kolb Learning Style and its instrument are considered classic in hands-on literature, the use of educational robotics to elaborate students’ learning style is novel in the literature that may affect the delivery of non-technology subjects in the curricula.
There is a gap in the learning process of Computer Network in Informatics Education, Sebelas Maret University between Students from High School and Vocational High School. Some students with high school backgrounds do not have the basic concepts of Computer Networking, while students from SMK are already at a much more advanced stage. To bridge the thing then one solution that can be implemented is elearning that offers independent learning system. Elearning developed will provide complete material, practice and video tutorials. In these research, unlike E-Learning that is the same (flat) for each user, E-Learning will be developed equipped with Machine Learning Naïve Bayes method. Machine Learning will help the learning process with a one-to-one approach, where the system will have the ability to detect the ability of students using E-Learning. The system adapts the material and exercises according to the user's ability in the independent learning process. In this development, it is still at the functional testing stage with the Blackbox method by the developer. Based on the testing conducted by the researcher, it resulted that all functions in the Value Processing Information System were running well. With a step-by-step tutorial and a different approach in the learning process, each student is expected to be able to improve students' understanding of Computer Network courses in PTIK, FKIP, UNS.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
