This study aimed to investigate associated factors of spirituality and spiritual care in clinical nurses in Indonesia. Cross-sectional descriptive and correlational research designs were used in this study. Purposive sampling was applied among 204 participants in private hospitals, Medan and Bandung, Indonesia. The questionnaires consisted of demographic and characteristics information and the spirituality and spiritual care rating scale (SSCRS). Mann Whitney test was used to investigate associated factors of spirituality and spiritual care in clinical nurses in Indonesia. This study found that there was statistically significant between department with spirituality (p=0.017), receiving spiritual care lessons during nurse training with spiritual care (p=0.032), and receiving spiritual care lessons during nurse training (p=0.013) and educational background with nurses’ perception of spirituality and spiritual care (p=0.040). Receiving spiritual care lessons during nurse training, and educational background were statistically significant with spirituality and spiritual care in clinical nurses in Indonesia. The findings of this study provide information for clinical nurses and generally of nurses to understand the perception of spirituality and spiritual care in hospital for care patient in a hospital in Indonesia. It is also suggested that appropriate strategies to improve knowledge and perception of spirituality and spiritual care should be developed shortly.
In the beginning year of 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the coronavirus outbreak as a Global Public Health Emergency. Coronavirus is continuing its spread across the world. The virus is surging in many regions and countries that had apparent success in suppressing initial outbreaks are also seeing infections rise. The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a dramatic loss of human life worldwide and presents an unprecedented challenge to public health, food systems and the world of work. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic was now beginning to spread to the world of education. The policies taken by many countries including Indonesia by dismissing all educational activities and related institutions must present alternative educational processes for students and students who cannot carry out the educational process in educational institutions. This community project was aimed to increase the knowledge of COVID-19 and to promote the health status of college students in Surya Nusantara Nursing School, School of Business, School of Theology and academy students as well. These schools are situated in the area of Pondok Sayur, city of Pematangsiantar. It is expected that those who completed the health promotion seminar would be able to conduct effective prevention and control activities for COVID-19 as per the guidelines in primary health centers across the country. The main aim of this community project was to encourage behaviour change among the people that will help them adapt helpful behaviours in the long fight against COVID-19.Keywords: Covid-19, Health Promotion, Interactive Education, Students
ABSTRAK Hipertensi masih merupakan tantangan besar di Indonesia dan merupakan kondisi yang sering ditemukan pada pelayanan kesehatan primer kesehatan. Hipertensi merupakan masalah kesehatan dengan prevalensi yang tinggi dan pengontrolan hipertensi belum adekuat meskipun obat-obatan yang efektif banyak tersedia. World Hypertension Day (WHD) atau Hari Hipertensi Dunia diperingati setiap tahun setiap tanggal 17 Mei sejak 2005. Kegiatan ini dimaksudkan untuk menyebarluaskan informasi kepada seluruh masyarakat di dunia agar memberikan perhatian, peran serta dan mendukung upaya pencegahan dan penanggulangan masalah hipertensi sebagai silent killer, yang berpotensi menyebabkan epidemi di dunia. Tujuan pemberian edukasi dalam kegiatan penyuluhan ini maka masyarakat di Kelurahan Pondok Sayur melalui ibu-ibu PKK dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat sebagai dasar utama untuk melakukan tindakan pengendalian dan pencegahan terjadinya penyakit hipertensi. Diharapkan setelah mengikuti kegiatan penyuluhan kesehatan ini maka masyarakat akan meningkat kesehatannya, melalui tindakan pencegahan dan pengendalian penyakit hipertensi. Hypertension is a health problem with a high prevalence and control of hypertension has not been adequate even though effective drugs are widely available. World Hypertension Day (WHD) has been celebrated every year on May 17 since 2005. This activity is intended to disseminate information to all people in the world to pay attention, participate and support efforts to prevent and overcome the problem of hypertension as a silent killer, which has the potential to cause epidemics in the world. The goal to provide education in this counseling activity, that the community in Pondok Sayur Village through mothers involved in PKK program can increase public knowledge as the main basis for controlling and preventing the occurrence of hypertension. It is expected that after participating in this health counseling activity, the community will improve their health, through preventive measures and control of hypertension. Objective. To explain the stress level and coping strategies of nursing students in online learning during Covid-19pandemic. Methods. Explanatory sequential mixed method QUAN-QUAL study conducted at a private university inBandung, Indonesia. Of the 260 nursing students, 157 consented to participate and answered a Depression Anxiety Scale- 42 (DDAS-42) and The Ways of Coping in the Indonesian version. The participants of the quantitative phase with the indicative of stress were interviewed individually (n=17) to provide an in-depth understanding of the students’ experiences of stress and coping strategy in online learning. Results. Almost one out of two students (47.1%) had some level of stress (16% between severe and extremely severe). Most nursing students (45.9%) used emotion focused coping strategies. Stress level was significantly higher among female students and internship academic level (%0.05). Nursing students’ sources of stress were new experiences and hindrances to online learning. Coping strategies included seeking support and positive acceptance. Conclusion. A high proportion of nursing students experienced stress during their education process in COVID-19 times; they used specially emotion-focused coping strategies to reduce barriers to online learning.
