BACKGROUND: The rapid spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak has led to extraordinary measures taken worldwide and has led to serious psychological disorders. With the measures taken, the difficulties in women's daily lives are increasing exponentially. This situation has caused women to experience more mental health problems. OBJECTIVE: To identify the relationship between women's health anxiety and psychological wellbeing and the factors affecting these situations during the COVID-19 pandemic. DESIGN AND SETTING: Descriptive study conducted online among women living in Adana, Turkey. METHOD: This descriptive study was conducted among 623 married women between April 1 and April 20, 2020, using a SurveyMonkey online questionnaire. Data were collected using the link that was established. The questions comprised personal information, perceptions regarding the pandemic, the Health Anxiety Inventory (Short Form) and the Psychological Wellbeing Scale. RESULTS: The women who participated were found to have a high level of anxiety and a moderate level of psychological wellbeing. A positive, moderate-level relationship was found between the scales. CONCLUSIONS: The COVID-19 pandemic has had negative effects on both physical and psychological health. Support for women, to be provided within their holistic understanding of care, is of great importance for maintaining the psychological health of society.
This study aims to determine the effect of pregnant women’s fear of COVID-19 on their expectations, experiences, and reactions in the first ultrasound examination. This study was conducted with 166 pregnant women who visited the polyclinic in a Hospital of University, on the March and May, 2021 and, have an ultrasound examination for the first time. Data were collected using the Personal Information Form, the Fear of COVID-19 Scale (FCV-19S), and the Parents’ Expectations, Experiences, and Reactions to Routine Ultrasound Examination Scale (PEER-U). The average age of pregnant women was 29.02±5.56. While 15.1% had a COVID-19 positive history, 8.4% lost someone they knew due to COVID-19. FCV-19S score was found 18.26±5.32. Fear of COVID-19 scores were higher in women who did not work and who had their first pregnancy. While the mean score for PEER-U before was 59.05±6.99, the mean score for PEER-U after was 65.07±4.53. While a positive correlation was reported between FCV-19S and the scores for PEER-U before (r=0.392), no significant correlation was detected between FCV-19S and the scores for PEER-U after. Pregnant women were found to experience an average fear of COVID-19. It was found a correlation between COVID-19 and the scores for PEER-U before. The fear of COVID-19 and the scores for PEER-U before were found to be affected by some socio-demographic characteristics.

Gebelikte bitkisel ürünlerin kullanımı teratojenik etki gösterebilmesi nedeniyle bazı önemli dernekler tarafından önerilmese de gebelikte bitkisel yöntemler sıklıkla tercih edilmektedir. Gebelikte yaşanan bulantı-kusma için en çok tercih edilen yöntemler akupunktur, zencefil ve hipnozdur. Uyku problemleri için ayurveda tıbbı, papatya çayı, lavanta yağı, müzik terapisi ve gevşeme egzersizleri, bel, sırt ve pelvik ağrı yönetiminde en çok aromaterapi tercih edilmektedir. Gebelikte hissedilen yorgunluk, yoga, egzersiz ve ginseng ile stres, anksiyete ise müzik terapisi ve aromaterapi ile giderilebilmektedir. Literatürde gebelikte yaşanan rahatsızlıkların giderilmesinde ebeler tarafından, geleneksel tamamlayıcı tıp uygulamalarının etkisinin ortaya konulduğu çalışmalar yer almaktadır. Ebelerin geleneksel ve tamamlayıcı tıp uygulamalarına yönelik farkındalıklarının arttırılması ve bu konudaki danışmanlık rolleri oldukça önemlidir. Bu derleme, gebelik döneminde yapılan geleneksel ve tamamlayıcı tıp uygulamaları ve bu konuda ebelik yaklaşımlarını belirlemek amacıyla hazırlanmıştır.
