3D garment has complex and flexible shape. In order to obtain realistic texture mapping results with various garment models, an efficient and simple mesh parameterization method is presented in this paper. The key idea in this work is to partition the garment model using geometrical feature line that is composed of several mesh edges and to parameterize the mesh facet after partitioning. We achieve this by first developing a direct geometrical measurement method for discovering the structural lines of garment model. Next we use Shortest-Path method to formulate the cutting line and partition the mesh surface into facets. Then, we roughly parameterize the partitioned mesh parts using modified uniform area method. The experiments show that our method captures distinctive mapping effects and obtains more shape-preserving results than other state-of-the-art approaches.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
