Stress is high in software profession because of their nature of work, target, achievements, night shift, over work load. 1. To study the demographic profile of the employees. 2. To access the level of job stress and quality of life of the respondents. 3. To study in detail the health problems of the employees. All employees working in IT and BPO industry for more than two years were included into the study. A detailed questionnaire of around 1000 IT and BPO employees including their personal details, stress score by Holmes and Rahe to assess the level of stress and master health checkup profile were taken and the results were analysed. Around 56% had musculoskeletal symptoms. 22% had newly diagnosed hypertension,10% had diabetes, 36% had dyslipidemia, 54% had depression, anxiety and insomnia, 40% had obesity. The stress score was higher in employees who developed diabetes, hypertension and depression. Early diagnosis of stress induced health problems can be made out by stress scores, intense lifestyle modification, diet advice along with psychological counselling would reduce the incidence of health problems in IT sector and improve the quality of work force.
The STYLE EU Framework 7 project is examining the structural integrity of non-RPV components in reactor primary circuits. One of its focus areas is the impact of high magnitude weld residual stresses on the initiation and growth of cracks in austenitic stainless steels. A large scale fracture test has been performed on Mock-up 2, a butt-welded austenitic steel pipe containing a short, deep weld repair that induces weld residual stresses of yield magnitude over the length of repair. A through-thickness crack was introduced into the repair weld, and its behaviour under superimposed global bending load was investigated in a large scale fracture test. This paper describes the process of test design, the pre-test predictions made using the R6 defect assessment procedure, and the outcome of the test.
This work presents a modelling strategy for ductile fracture materials by implementing the Rousselier damage model with the extended finite element method (XFEM). The implicit integration scheme and consistent tangent modulus (CTM) based on a radial return mapping algorithm for this constitutive model are developed by the user-defined material subroutine UMAT in ABAQUS/ Standard. To enhance the modelling of the crack development in the materials, the XFEM is used that allows modelling of arbitrary discontinuities, where the mesh does not have to be aligned with the boundaries of material interfaces. This modelling strategy, so-called Rousselier-UMAT-XFEM (RuX) model is proposed to connect both concepts, which gives an advantage in predicting the material behaviour of ductile material in terms of voids and crack relation. This is the first contribution where XFEM is used in ductile fracture analysis for micromechanical damage problems. The results indicate that the RuX model is a promising technique for predicting the void volume fraction damage and crack extension in ductile material, which shows a good agreement in terms of stress-strain and force-displacement relationships.
