Bacillus thurangenisis, Bacillus cereus and Pseudomonas aeruginosawere isolated from the used steel industrial coolant. Psidium guajava and Eucalyptus tereticornis were selected as the source of plants for the phytochemical extraction using methanol and ethanol as solvents. The antibacterial activities of both the extracts showed inhibition on all three test organism, however ethanol extracts were more potent compare to methanol extracts. Highest inhibition zone observed with Ethanol extracts of Eucalyptus tereticornis on Pseudomonas aeruginosa (19.50 ± 0.71) compare to ethanol extracts of Psidium guajava (9.00 ± 0.00). Qualitative and quantitative test for phytochemicals were performed following previously described standard method. High flavinoids concentration was found in both the extracts. In conclusion highest antibacterial activity was observed with ethanol extracts of Eucalyptus tereticornis in comparison with extracts of Psidium guajava on Pseudomonas aeruginosa also this study reveals concentrations of flavinoid is high compare to alkaloids and these are soluble in both the solvents used in this study.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
