IntroductionEMDR therapy is a brief form of trauma-focused therapy for PTSD. This therapeutic technique was first used by Francine Shapiro in the United States in 1987. EMDR combines exposure imagination, cognitive and psychoanalytical techniques. Designed to treat psychological trauma, emotional shock and grief, EMDR can also be used to treat neurotic problems such as phobias, anxiety and depression.EMDR therapy can be used at any age and can be adapted to children, adolescents, adults and the elderly unless contraindicated. In the pediatric population, several studies have shown that EMDR therapy has a remarkable effectiveness on several pathologies and particularly on PTSD.Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)EMDR therapy is a brief form of trauma-focused therapy for PTSD. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)ObjectivesPresent the indications of EMDR therapy in children and demonstrated its effectiveness in the management of psychiatric disorders in this population.MethodsThis is a systematic review of the literature. The databases used are “PubMed” and “Google Scholar”. No language restrictions were applied. The following keywords were entered: EMDR, Child. Recent articles published in English or “systematic reviews, meta-analyses or reviews” were included.ResultsFrom this review of the literature, we note that:EMDR is a psychotherapy that has been shown to be effective in improving the symptoms of various pathologies in children, including PTSD, major depressive disorders, intellectual disability, anxiety disorders, as well as behavioral disordersHowever, the studies are still few in number and also have methodological limitations: they were exploratory studies of relatively small samples.ConclusionsEMDR therapy is mentioned in the described guidelines as “promising”, as the fact that it yields positive results in a short period of time and that these results continue in follow-up studies has increased the interest in using EMDR in children.Nevertheless, larger sample sizes are recommended in future studies to better establish the effectiveness of EMDR therapy in children.Disclosure of InterestNone Declared
IntroductionEarly-onset schizophrenia begins before the age of 18. Drug treatments are mainly based on antipsychotics, preferably atypical antipsychotics, which have fewer side effects compared to first generation antipsychotics.Resistant schizophrenia is defined as an inadequate response to two different antipsychotic treatments for a sufficient duration and dosage. Clozapine is the only drug treatment currently approved for patients with resistant schizophrenia, for which the risk of aganulocytosis must be monitored. In order to derive a clear benefit, different scientific organizations, recommend the use of Clozapine as early as possible, and they state that there is little evidence to support the use of very high doses of antipsychotics.ObjectivesWe seek to determine the effectiveness of clozapine treatment in the management of early schizophrenia resistant to more than two antipsychotic treatments.MethodsDescription of a case of early resistant schizophrenia , in a 16-year-old girl, put on clozapine in comparison with the data of the literature.Discussion: through articles published on google scholar, pubmed, and science directResultsTreatment with clozapine, showed efficacy in the case of early schizophrenia resistant to several lines of antipsychotics, including disappearance of auditory and visual hallucinations and delusions.ConclusionsThe efficacy of clozapine treatment in early resistant schizophrenia raises the question of its use in first line from the beginning of the schizophrenic disease, however its side effects and its difficulty of follow-up raise questions in relation to its use.Disclosure of InterestNone Declared
In recent years, the prescription of antidepressants for children has come under serious scrutiny, as some studies have shown an increased risk of suicide among those treated in this way. The main aim of this study is to investigate the causal relationship between antidepressant use and suicidal behaviour in children and adolescents. We reviewed the literature on the Google Scholar, pubmed, science direct database. The data in the literature were contradictory; while it has now been demonstrated that SSRIs very moderately increase the risk of suicide ideation and attempts, with venlafaxine, paroxetine and sertraline in particular showing a higher risk than other SSRIs such as fluoxetine and citalopram, several studies show that their use is associated with a significant reduction in suicide rates in children and adolescents. There is currently no certainty of a causal relationship between antidepressants and suicidality in children and adolescents, so the mechanisms are still poorly understood.
Gender dysphoria is a medical term used in the American Psychiatric Association (APA) textbook to describe the distress of the transgender person in the face of a sense of inadequacy between their assigned sex and their gender identity. The work we present is based on a clinical case in which we have retained the diagnosis of gender dysphoria comorbid with other psychiatric disorders after several close consultation appointments, and through which we will address the socio-cultural aspect of this disorder within our society Adults with gender dysphoria can benefit from psychological, medical and surgical treatment in France. However, this dysphoria rarely appears in adulthood, often being present since childhood and adolescence and generating difficulties in family, social and school life, particularly at the time of puberty. It is necessary to take adequate care of patients with gender dysphoria, often generating psychological suffering responsible for numerous comorbidities.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
