Gender distinct treatment is all pervasive from the down of civilization. It has been continuing over centuries. It shows up in different forms and takes many other dimensions. It takes place in our families even in the society as a whole. Irrespective of economic condition and social standing, gender discrimination has been a cry of many, yet policies have been put in place where the right of girls and women should be protected. In the light of the above, the paper discussed the concept of gender, gender discernment, implication of gender discernment on the policy, rationale behind gender policy, governing standard of the national gender policy, the intent and goal of the national gender policy, above all, the crucial areas of gender gap. Findings were made in respect to the reason behind gender discernment. It could be said that various cultural and socioeconomic factors, as well as lack of adequate health facilities for women are responsible for gender discernment. It was recommended that society should acknowledge equal democratic participation for accredited individuals and above all, government should make room for activities to reinforce women and girls like empowerment programmes.
This paper describes Almajiri system of education and the emergence of religious extremists in Nigeria. Almajiri system of education being a traditional and non-formal system of education which derived its curriculum from the Holy Qu’ran and subjects its learners or pupils to roam about the streets begging for alms, food, and render menial labour to the teachers known as Mallams as a means of survival, is found majorly in the northern parts of Nigeria which later spread to other parts of the country and the world with devastating effects to the country’s security apparatus as well as our cooperate existence as one indivisible entity. Consequently, these innocent children with little or no parental backgrounds are left to their fate constituting child labour, child abuse, child neglect , street hawking and other social vices while others join bad groups in carrying out crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, suicide bombings etc. This negates the contribution of education to nation building. The conceptual clarifications, historical perspectives, some factors affecting Almajiri system of education as well as suggestions and recommendations were extensively outlined.
This study examined the influence of parental educational level on the increase in street children in Calabar metropolis of Nigeria. Single speculation was defined to control the investigation. A writing survey was done dependent on the attribute under investigation. An approved four 16 ounces Likert scale questionnaire was utilized for assessment. The findings revealed that there is a significant influence of parental educational level on the increase in street children in Calabar Metropolis.

One research question and statement of hypothesis were formulated to guide the study. The literature review was done dependent on the variable under examination. The survey research design was used in the study. The outcome of the research uncovered that there is an impact of sleep quality on the academic performance of students in social studies.
