Phase Relations and Chemical Transport of the Compounds in the Ternary System Re/Mo/O. -Four series of mixed oxides are prepared in the ternary Re/Mo/O system by heating powder samples and transport reactions. Compounds are derived from the oxides ReO 2 , MoO 2 , γ-Mo 4 O 11 and η-Mo 4 O 11 and show compositions Re 1−x MoxO 2 (0 ¡ x ¡ 0.37), Mo 1−y ReyO 2 (0 ¡ y ¡ 0.42), γ-Mo 4−z1 Re z1 O 11 (0 ¡ z 1 ¡ 1), and η-Mo 4−z2 Re z2 O 11 (0 ¡ z 2 ¡ 1). Chemical Vapor Transport of Intermetallic Phases. Part 4. The System Fe-Ge. -The six phases existing in the title system are prepared by chemical transport with iodine as transport agent in the temperature range between T 1 = 600 • C and T 2 = 950 • C. Synthesis, Properties, and Crystal Structure of Cu 3 Mo 8 O 23 X 2 (X: Cl, Br, I). -Single crystals of the title compounds are prepared by chemical auto transport reactions (temp. gradient 600→550 • C, no transport agent) of products obtained by solid state reactions of MoO 3 , Mo, Cu, and X 2 (X: Cl, Br, I; evacuated quartz tube, 500 • C, 48 h). Single crystal XRD data are given for Cu 3 Mo 8 O 23 Br 2 , that crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pbcm with Z = 4. The structure consists of pentagonal ∞ 1 [Mo 6 O 7 O 20/2 ] columns which are linked by additional MoO 6 octahedra to form tunnels in which infinite ∞ 1 [Cu 3 Br 2 ] chains are arranged. -(STEINER, U.; REICHELT, W.; BOETTCHER, P.; DAEBRITZ, S.; Z.
