Local Area Networks (LANs) able to support both data and digitized voice are under development in several laboratories. Up to day the interest of the researchers was focused on the choice of the physical media to be used in the LAN, on the access protocols, and on the network topology. In this paper another aspect of the problem of the integration of data and voice on the same LAN is investigated.More precisely some advanced telephone services, that can be implemented on LAN3 are presented. In particular the Conference Service, here named Multiple Internal Call, is deeply investigated. Other services, such as the Call Queue or the By-Pass, that can be considered as typical services of the ofice of the near future are described.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
