We calculate the cross sections for dissociation of J/ψ by pions and ρ-mesons within the framework of a meson exchange model. We find that these cross sections are small at center-of-mass energies less than 1 GeV above threshold, and that dissociation rates are less than 0.01 c/fm in a thermal meson gas at temperatures where such a description makes sense.Typeset using REVT E X 1
This paper reviews the application of optical and UV laser radiation to several topics in low-energy nuclear physics. We consider the laser-induced nuclear anti-Stokes transitions, the laser-assisted and the laser-induced internal conversion, and the Electron Bridge and Inverse Electron Bridge mechanisms as tools for deexciting and exciting of low-lying nuclear isomeric states. A study of the anomalous, by low-lying, nuclear isomeric states (on an example of the 229 Th nucleus) is presented in detail.
We discuss the multiplicity distribution for highest accessible energies of pp-andpp-interactions from the point of view of the multiparton collisions. The inelastic cross sections for the single, σ 1 , and multiple (double and, presumably, triple, σ 2+3 ) parton collisions are extracted from the analysis of the experimental data on the multiplicity distribution up to the Tevatron energies. It follows that σ 1 becomes energy independent while σ 2+3 increases with √ s for √ s ≥ 200 GeV. The observed growth of p ⊥ with multiplicity is attributed to the increasing role of multiparton collisions for the high energȳ pp(pp)-inelastic interactions.13.85.Hd
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
