A systematic exploration on the kinetic and equilibrium studies of adsorption of Cr(VI) ion from aqueous solution by activate d carbon prepared from leaves of Pongamia pinnata was carried out in batch process. The potential of adsorbent was evaluated by varying various parameters such as effect of initial concentration, adsorption dose, contact time and temperature. Experiment al data were fitted into linearised form of Lagergren and Ho kinetic equations for pseudo first order and pseudo second order models respectively. The kinetic parameters have been discussed in detail. The results revealed that the adsorption of Chromium (VI) ion onto chosen adsorbent followed the pseudo second order kinetics. The adsorption process was controlled by intra particle diffusion and it was confirmed using Webber Morris plot parameters.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
